Destination Found: Colby St., Oakland

The journey is over. I rolled in from Bakersfield today around 2:30 and went straight to Christopher's Nothing Fancy Cafe, where I met up with a very good friend who shared some enchiladas with me. Then off to get my car washed at the Touchless in Berkeley, then on to my temporary home on Colby Street in Oakland. I'm sad that my cross-country adventures are over, but excited that I have made it back to the area I call home. I highly recommend the cross-country trek to any and all -- it's an amazing adventure.

First Stop in the Bay Area: Christopher's Nothing Fancy Cafe

Had my favorite enchiladas in green sauce, with all the salsa fresca you can pile on, and freshly homemade chips, still hot, not too greasy, not too salty. Juuuuust right.

Three People in Hats in Sedona

That first one is our jeep tour guide. I gave him a big tip because he was so bad, I felt badly for him. Name of Doc, in his younger years he did gun stunts in a show. Now he puts on full chaps and spurs and does these god-awful tours. Tells lots of Indian lore, but clearly doesn't much like the dern Indians too much. Only tour guide who carries a rifle attached to the side of his jeep, because "he'd feel naked without it there."

The second guy is Elvis, who made Stay Away, Joe here in 1967, with Burgess Meredith and Joan Blondell.

Not sure who the third person is. Some weird chick travelling by herself.
